Airport train operator PT Railink has extended the discount period for its airport train tickets to Aug. 31.

The company’s president director, Mukti Jauhi, said the change was made due to the positive response from the public during the program, which was initially to finish at the end of July.

“The volume of airport train passengers increased [due to the ticket promo] by almost 20 percent or 4,400 passengers per day on average,” said Mukti in a statement on Thursday as quoted by .

During the promo period, Railink is offering up to 57 percent discounts for airport train tickets to Jakarta and Medan, North Sumatra.

The program is said to be part of the company’s effort to encourage the public to use the airport train as an alternative form of transportation.

The discounted prices are available for users who purchase tickets via its mobile app on Android and iPhone devices or via the Railink and state railway company PT KAI websites. (dmy/kes)
