AN INDIVIDUAL and a local company were each slapped with a compound fine by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department for violating the Minor Offences Act yesterday.

Bangladesh national Sheakh Mohammad Kamal was levied with a BND100 compound fine for violating the Minor Offences Act Chapter 30, Section 12 (1) (a) for throwing rubbish in a public area at Kampong Anggerek, during ‘Operasi Bersih 94/2019.’

Syarikat Bismi Enterprise was issued with a BND500 fine for leaving construction waste in the parking area at Kampong Serusop.

The fines must be settled within seven days, failing which the matter will be forwarded to court. If found guilty, a BND1,000 fine will be imposed for the first convicted offence. For subsequent offences, the penalty is a BND3,000 fine and a prison term of up to three months.

Members of the public are urged to not indiscriminately dispose trash and to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings.
