JOINT business partners Perspective Insan Academy and EICO Enterprise held a press conference on Brunei and Social Impact Convention (BASIC) 2019 at the Business Marketing and Communication Centre of Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) yesterday.
The press conference was led by BASIC 2019 co-founders Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Iswandy bin Ahmad and Mohammed Afiq bin Mohammed, and KIGS Head of Faculty of Multimedia and Broadcasting Haji Nor Hasnul bin Haji Mohd Hamdani.
BASIC 2019 is a two-day convention which aims to be a platform that connects people with social enterprises, non-government organisations (NGOs) and companies that have corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the incentives to build an economy and community that is equitable and fair for all.
The convention is supported by Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry and is scheduled to be held on October 22-23 at the KIGS. Participants will have the opportunities to get updated information on social enterprise, NGOs and CSR initiatives, while establishing network and interact with invited speakers.
BASIC 2019 takes the view that businesses can lead the way in providing a solution to the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems while working together with the society.
In fact, the next generation of business leaders could act as an instrumental role in shaping our world, and with the presence of BASIC 2019, it helps to support and promote organisations that empower communities and innovate for a better change to the world.
Mohammed Afiq shared that the motto for BASIC 2019 – I.M.P.A.C.T (Innovation, Meaning, Partnership, Action, Community and Triumph), is a call to participants in Brunei and Southeast Asia for the empowerment of communities and innovation for a better change to the world.
“The objectives of the BASIC 2019 are firstly to see development partnership cooperation between corporations with CSR initiatives and the society; secondly, to promote social enterprise as a platform for social development, and viable solution to social issues, and thirdly, to foster networking and collaboration between corporate, social enterprise, NGOs and community,” he said.
Registration is open until September 2 (for international participants) and September 7 (for locals) through www.basicbrunei.com.
