‘Ikat’ beachwear hits the stores 1

Fans of tenun ikat (traditional woven fabric) now have something new to pack in their suitcases when going on summer vacation.
IKAT Indonesia by Didiet Maulana has transformed ikat into a light and comfortable fabric that provides beachgoers with an alternative sartorial option when heading to the beach.
“We provide the ikat artisans cotton-based materials to weave modern looks and light fabrics for the collection,” said creative director Didiet Maulana on the sidelines of the launch of the boutique’s latest collection, Binar (Shine), at the Goods Dept. fashion store in Pacific Place, SCBD, Central Jakarta, last week.
Beyond woven fabric, the collection also introduced print fabric for some items such as organza tops and shawls and eye-catching ombre (color gradiation) motifs.
