The Ministry of Home Affairs and departments under it carried out a Korban ceremony at the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department Headquarters in Jalan Perdana Menteri yesterday.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong was the guest of honour who distributed the sacrificial meat to recipients.

The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer at the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque Ahmad Syafiq bin Haji Osman followed by a speech from Chairman of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board Haji Ali bin Matyassin.

Two buffaloes were slaughtered and the meat distributed to members of the ministry and the departments under it.

The ceremony was also attended by permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, department heads, senior officers and officers at the ministry and the department under it.

In a separate event, the Prime Minister’s Office and the departments under it held a Korban ceremony to mark Hari Raya Aidiladha. The event was held at the Banquet Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office Building Complex.

The event was jointly organised by the Sekretariat Tetap Wawasan Brunei 2035, Department of Councils of State and the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud was the guest of honour who distributed the Korban meat to the recipients.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Takbir Hari Raya, followed by a talk on ‘Ibadah Korban Satu Wadah Untuk Menghampirkan Diri Kepada Allah’ by Dr Andus Haji Ismuhadi bin Haji Abdullah from the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).

Six buffaloes and three goats were sacrificed from 43 contributors. The sacrificial meat was distributed to 40 recipients from Asnaf of Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and ‘B’.

Also in attendance were the permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of department, officer and staff from the Prime Minister’s Office and departments under it.

Meanwhile, the Syariah Courts of the State Judiciary Department, Prime Minister’s Office organised a Korban ceremony along with a retirement ceremony for retired Syariah High Court Judge Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Zaimi bin Haji Talip at the Multipurpose Hall of the Syariah Subordinate and High Courts building yesterday.

Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar was the guest of honour.

Syar’ie judges, Acting Director at the State Judiciary Department, registrars, officers and staff of the Syariah Courts from all four districts as well as officers from the State Judiciary Department, Prime Minister’s Office were also present.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa with a speech by Deputy Chief Registrar Haji Muhammad Bahrin bin Haji Alias in his capacity as the Acting Director at the State Judiciary Department.

Haji Muhammad Bahrin said this was the third Korban ceremony held at the Syariah Courts and two cows were slaughtered this year. The sacrificial meat were distributed to officers and staff of the Syariah Courts as well as 20 destitutes from the Mukim Gadong area.

The guest of honour also presented a gift of appreciation to Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Zaimi for his years of service as a Syariah High Court Judge.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), through its Islamic Religious Body (BUI), also held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha. The event took place at the Surau of RBPF Headquarters in Gadong.

Commissioner of the RBPF Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali was the guest of honour who distributed the sacrificial meat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohd Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid, Senior Superintendent of Police Pengiran Zaidi bin Pengiran Haji Metali in his capacity as the chairman of the event; directors, officers and RBPF personnel were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Takbir Raya led by the Imam of RBPF Surau Gadong Pengiran Haji Ludin bin Pengiran Haji Mat Tahir. It continued with the distribution of sacrificial meat.

The ceremony ended with a Doa Selamat and mass Asar prayer.

Two buffaloes and one goat were sacrificed.

In another event, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) held a Korban ceremony at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.

Guest of honour Deputy State Mufti and Deputy Chairman of the Syariah Advisory Body of BIBD Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin distributed the Korban meat to recipients.

The event began with the recitation of prayers and concluded with a Doa Selamat by Imam at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Haji Zamhari bin Haji Ibrahim.

Seven buffaloes were sacrificed and the meat was distributed to more than 30 recipients comprising underprivileged members of the community and family members of the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Advocating Life-Long Learning for Aspiring Future (BIBD ALAF) recipients.

The bank also contributed 150 Yaasiin books to the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque.

Deputy Managing Director of BIBD Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman and BIBD senior management also attended the event.
