SINGAPORE – At the height of St James Power Station’s operations, the most popular venues in the multi-concept nightlife destination included dance club Powerhouse, Mandopop club Dragonfly, and world music bar Movida, complete with smaller karaoke rooms and bars and more than 100 live performers housed across the 60,000 sq ft space.

St James, which was housed in a former coal-fired power station built in the 1920s and opened as a buzzing nightlife hub in 2006, was cited as an example of “creative new uses” for two other decommissioned power stations at Pasir Panjang, in Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 18).
