In the attack, NLD member U Myo Lwin, 54 was sitting with two other men in a tea shop at the intersection of 89th street, 17th street and 18th street when five unidentified men rode up on two motorcycles and punched and stabbed the group.
When the victims shouted for help, the attackers fled on their motorcycles, according to a police spokesperson.
