THE Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) held a religious lecture and presentation of donations to orphans at the Theatre Hall of the MoFE Building yesterday to mark Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.
Acting Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, permanent secretaries, heads of departments and divisions, officers and staff of the ministry were present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a welcoming speech by Chairman of the event Acting Accountant General at the Treasury Department Suraya binti Haji Jaidin.
The ceremony, organised by the Treasury Department, also saw a special talk by Ustaz Mohd Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid of the Department of Administration, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of donations to the orphans.

ROYAL Brunei Airlines (RB) organised a donation presentation ceremony at the RB Campus yesterday.
Acting Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II who is also Deputy Chairman of Royal Brunei Airlines Dato Seri Paduka Awang Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman presented the donation to 44 orphans.
The ceremony aimed to lessen the burden of the families of former RB staff members who have passed, for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
RB executive and senior management, RB welfare committee, RB staff and family members were also present.
Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI)
THE Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) and department and agencies under it, celebrated Nuzul Al-Quran at the Main Theatre Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office Building yesterday.
Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein was the guest of honour.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the MEMI Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Manpower) at the MEMI Haji Zolkiflee bin Haji Abdul Karim, Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the MEMI Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Industry) at the MEMI Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power) at the MEMI Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra; officers and staff of Department of Electrical Services (DES) and Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) were also present.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer of Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Mateen Mosque, Kampong Mulaut Haji Khairul Nizam bin Haji Mohd Said.
It proceeded with a welcoming remark by Head of Human Resource at the SHENA and Co-chairman of MEMI’s Nuzul Al-Quran celebration organising committee Umi Khadijah binti Haji Mohd Zaini.
A special talk titled ‘Demonstration of Prayer Techniques according to Imam Al-Shafi’e was delivered by Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar.
The event concluded with a presentation of donation to 12 widows and 25 orphans from MEMI and DES by the guest of honour.
The event was a part of the ministry’s annual event to glorify Ramadhan and to strengthen relations between staff of MEMI, DES and SHENA.
Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA)

THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) held a donation presentation ceremony for 44 orphans of the employees under the ministry and departments under it at the Multaqa Hall of MoRA building yesterday.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Mosque Affairs Officer of Pintu Malim Mosque Haji Mohd Azrol bin Haji Zaini followed by a remark by Head of the Syiar Islam Development Division and Co-Chairperson of the event Haji Madzneh bin Haji Mohd Noor.
The guest of honour, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar presented donations to orphans.
The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang were also present.

ROYAL Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC) held a Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong yesterday.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy and Chairman of the RBC Board of Directors Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin was present.
Members of the RBC Board of Directors, management and staff were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Yaasiin, followed by Tahlil led by Awangku Firdaus bin Pengiran Metussin.
The event was the organisation’s annual activity to enliven Ramadhan and gain blessings from Allah the Almighty.
Kampong Mentiri Mosque Takmir Committee

TAKMIR committee members of the Kampong Mentiri Mosque held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the mosque on Monday.
Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Yassin was the guest of honour.
The ceremoy began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran headed by Imam Haji Tohara bin Haji Ongsang.
The event proceeded with the reading of Takhtim, Tahlil and Doa Arwah as well as Dikir Marhaban.
The guest of honour presented donation to six orphans.
The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat and the breaking of fast.
