FOUR BHSc (Medicine) students from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) are holding a two-day exhibition on stroke awareness at the Concourse Area of the IHS Extension Building.

The third-year students – Nur Amani Syazwina binti Mohd Nor Amin, Ang Yi Han, Muhammad Amirul bin Maidin and Muhammad Faris Hafiy @ Muhammad Syafiq Khairi bin Aide – have named their project ‘CASE’ (Care and Awareness of Stroke for Everyone), as they believe that little attention has been given to the subject of stroke awareness in Brunei Darussalam.

The exhibition received a large turnout on its first day yesterday, from UBD students and members of the public eager to learn more about the different types of strokes, its risk factors, warning signs, prevention, diagnosis and treatments.

Among the main highlights of the event are video presentations on the long-term effects of stroke, a fundraising drive and several quizzes.

Apart from increasing awareness for the public, the young organisers are also hoping that the project will help them raise enough funds to provide assistance for stroke patients and their caregivers.
