U Min Thu replaced Torsten Frank at the end of the group stage of the ASEAN Football Federation Under-15 Championship in Thailand.
“This is a great opportunity for me. I’m very proud to be head coach of the Myanmar under-15 team,” said U Min Thu, when reached by Myanmar Times for comment.
His first training session started at Bahan training field in Yangon on Wednesday.
TheMFF has not announced the details of his contract yet.
U Min Thu has a Asian Football Confederation A licence for coaching.
A former national team player U Min Thu, 40, played 50 matches for the Myanmar national team.
He also managed the Myanmar National League club Shan United’s under-19 and 21 teams, senior team and also achieved many victories with these teams.
According to the MFF’s announcement, he will head the U-16 team for a four-nation football tournament in Myanmar as his first official assignment.
Myanmar will compete against Under-16 teams from South Korea, Montenegro and Indonesia at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay on August 14-18.
It will be the first for him to manage Myanmar national under-15 team.
